Which Golf Clubs Should I Get?
Question by Tyler: Which Golf Clubs Should I Get?
I’m a beginner at golf and I found a couple of good deals on different golf clubs sets. I found a Hippo, Prince, and Nitro. Please help me with which I should get and why

Hippo is a good brand- and their hexagonal-shaped driver got some decent reviews in last year’s Golf Digest Hot List. I’ve seen Prince around, but only at places like Meijer’s and Wal-Mart, so I’d stay away from that. For me, the wild card is Nitro- I’ve seen them everywhere, but I don’t have any information- I’ve never used them or known anyone that has, either.

Hi – as a beginner, I think you should buy as good a set as possible wihtout breaking the bank – if you can, get fitted out by a pro so that they suggest a set that suits. There is a mob in SYdney called Lind Golf (and no I don’t work for them but use their gear) and they offer comparable gear to the big names, as much more reasonable prices – they also have great customer service. If you buy a set that you can grow into, then that is a good idea. At the end of the day, invest in lessons so that you don’t develop bad habits right from the start – it can take ages to get rid of them once they are ingrained. Hope that helps. Cheers…..oh yes..I forgot to mention, there are lots of dodgy internet sites selling fake clubs at really cheap prices (too good to be true) so be careful if you buy over the internet (and also Ebay) – I speak from experience
((( Cheers
Most important get a set of clubs you can pick up and feel comfy about.
In this day and age unless you are going to spend big dollars the rest (under $ 1000) offerings are all about par.
Brand names are for the show offs, they don’t help you play any better.
You will probably change them a few times over the years anyhow, I started off with an old set of RAMs, moved on to a second hand set of cougars and now have a new set of copper irons, Main reason being for copper is with a light shaft and heavy head they swing through really nice. That’s my preference, go to a club shop, or driving range and hit a few balls with a few different styles of clubs, that will give you a better idea of what you want, and generally, its free to try out the demo’s.
I sit at about a 15 handicap so not pro, but I have fun.
