Question by OutOfBounds: What is your experience with laser rangefinders on the golf course? Do they really work? Are they worth the $ ?
I am considering buying a laser rangefinder for golf such as one made by Bushnell or Nikon and am skeptical about how well they work – like picking up a flag/flagstick from 200 yards out with a complicated background. What about getting the distance to a hazard like a bunker or a water hazard? If you have used one and have an opinion, I would like to hear about it. Thanks.

I am an avid golfer and have one. It is a Bushnell. They work very well since they have a scan feature. Meaning if you don’t have the steadiest of hands, you can hold down the button and scan the distance to the flag until you get it right. There are newer ones just released that are equipped with some kind of leveling system that calculates the yardage if you are hitting downhill/uphill automatically.

  1. Lotus Notes 6.5 Problem says:

My dad has one, usually you can’t hit the flagstick with the laser, you have to kind of hit a tree or something solid near the green. But it’s pretty acurate.
