Question by njnetsfan151: Need help to buy golf clubs?
I need help buying a set of clubs.. these are my two choices
Nitro X-Factor Complete Golf Set
or
Acuity Voltage Combo
They would both be about the same price because the Nitro has $ 20 shipping but the acuity is free.
So which one should i get??

I would go with the Acuity set.I have dealt with “the brick and mortar” Dick’s Sporting Goods and have found them to be very helpful.During the season their prices are high;but when they have sales this store is the best.

i’m a firm believer in buying used clubs, or if your lucky and go to a big golf store, buying the previous year model of clubs. try looking at a used club section of golf galaxy or pga superstore if you have one around you. i’ve heard many bad things about nitro so i would go with acuity if you don’t find nice used clubs

I agree with others, buy used clubs. You can get a good quality, reputable company’s, used clubs for a fairly great price.
Since you’re asking this question I assume you’re a beginner. You are looking for super game improving irons. I will make this easy for you, so you can do your research and find what is best for you at the price you want to pay.

    1. Golfdigest.com rates clubs every year, it’s their hotlist. Go to there website and search “super game improving irons.” It will provide you options to pick from the last several years.
    2. You can then go to pga.com. Go to their equipment value guide listed under their “equipment tab.” This will give you what clubs trade in and retail values. You will likely pay close to retail price, but don’t go over that.
    3. For unbiased reviews of clubs try golfreview.com
    4. Ebay has thousands of clubs for sale. Find the right club at the right price.

I always highly recommend Ping clubs. Such a great company that consistently produces quality, however they can be a bit more pricey. the G2 from several years ago still has a great reputation and you can get a set for under $ 200. The slightly newer G5, G10, G15 sets will be a little more the newer set you get. Cobra S9 (2006 version) made editors choice ($ 220). They upgraded the set in 2008 and you can get these for approximately $ 260. Callaway also makes great clubs. Love the Big Bertha sets, but have had great success with the 2005 Big Bertha Fusion (not to be confused with wide sole fusion). $ 250 for the set. The 2004 Big Bertha will cost you $ 200 however these clubs still have fave reviews to this day. Great inexpensive set. Now avoid Titleist though. Great company, however sweet spot is small. They typically make players irons.
Spend the extra money for these irons. They will last you a lot longer than the beginner sets you ask about!!!

    Now for a driver…
This is really easy. Buy a used Cobra SS either 427 , 400, or 350cc. These drivers are a bit older, however they perform just as well as the new technology and are extremely forgiving. You can pick up one on ebay for about $ 30. I have tried many drivers and this one performs just as good as the newer drivers out. Big bang for the buck, trust me!
