Question by sambirdiegolf: How many hours a week does a top eight year old girl practice golf?
One hour a day or what? Do they practice at all?

I think how many hours is not as important as practicing with a purpose – do not just hit balls at the range, pick out targets and hit at them like you do the flag on the course – get the golf course’s scorecard and play the course on the range – but at your age it is important to chip and putt to develop feel that you will use your entire golf life – get good at the short game now, it is where scores are made or destroyed – good luck

I don’t know of any “top” 8 year old girl golfers…but you should practice as much as you can..If you have 30 minutes, do it, if you have 5 hours, practice that much. Don’t over practice so you burn yourself out, but if you’re into it…then keep working on your game. Like the above poster said, practice with a purpose, don’t just bang balls on the range aimlessly. Practice 75% of your time on short game. Chip and putt until you can’t stand it anymore.

It really doesn’t matter how long you practice, it is the quality of practice. You could hit range balls until your palms are bloody, and still not improve. When you practice you have to focus and make sure your practice is quality. You could improve more from thirty minutes of focused practice than 10 days of just goofing off at the range.

So when you practice be sure to FOCUS!

if they are a top golfer at 8 years old or 80 years old, they would have to practice everyday to stay on top!
