Question by irnpsych: How do you replace a soft spike on a golf shoe?
The spike is broken off flush with the bottom of the shoe.

You could use a nail set tool (pointed chisel) and hammer and pound it at angle to loosen the spike (counter clockwise to loosen). Or a set of pliers or vise grips if all but a piece of the base of the spike is left.
Better yet go to a golf retailer or proshop at a golf course and have them use their power tools to get it out.

    They make small tools for that. New spikes should come with the tool. Or, your local pro shop should have them available.

    you could cut out a slit in it that would allow a flathead screwdriver to fit in it

    Let the people in the golf shop do it, the price should almost be the same. They have several different kind, some screw out others have the twist system. You may want to have them all changed at the same time. Soft spikes do not last long. You can go to http://www.softspike.com for more info or pictures
