Question by m38967: How do i find out the “Lie Angle” on a Callaway Golf Club?
I have a set of Callaway Big Bertha Golf Clubs for sale on eBay, and someone just asked, “What is the LIE ANGLE” on them. How do i find this out?

try the callaway site site , the ones you have are standard lies . simplest way the 8 iron is 61 degrees 9 iron 62 degrees pw 63 . all wedges 64 degrees yhe irons from 8 iron down reduce lie angle by 1 degree . callaway , uses these on all irons . the question was asked to put in a low bid . good luck on your sale . i hope you put a legitmate starting bid or reserve on these . i live in canada , got a forged wedge 99 cents . recieved club did not reqire grip replacement. it was so cheap had to send much more money out of guilt . take care

You could call your local pro shop or sporting goods store which sells golf clubs and ask them what the lie angle may be.Normally the lie angle is the angle at which the golf shaft comes off the club head in relation to the body of the person who will use the club. There is an upright position where the golfer will stand closer to the golf ball. The regular angle is usually the lie angle applied to the majority of golf clubs. Then there is a third position which promotes reaching out to hit the ball. This applied more to the ” woods”, people with shorter statures and women who need a longer, lower swing plane to get both distance and accuracy.
Call your local PGA Professional or PGA clubfitter and find out if he has a Steel (Brand Name) lie/loft machine. It is worth your time to do this to make sure that the clubs lies and lofts have not changed over time.
For your ebay sale, just tell him that the lie is standard. That will satisfy them. Standard for Callaway Big Bertha Irons is 61.5 degrees on the 5 iron.
The previous answers are mistaken and refer to “loft” angle not the “lie” angle. The “lie” is the angle between the shaft of the club and the club head in a plane perpendicular to the golfer.
“Standard” lie is 0 degrees. Lie angle is usually expressed as + or – in degrees. If the clubs have never been custom fit they should be “standard” lie or 0 degrees.
You would probably need to have a golf professional measure the lie with a machine. Easier to just answer honestly that you don’t know. The buyer can have the clubs loft and lie adjusted if he wants to. It’s not very expensive.
if you have a protractor set the club up on the table the sole probably has some camber so it will not set flat but get the face level, measure the angle from the table to the shaft this will be your lie angle. if the sole will not set flat your measurement will be within a couple of degrees.
I think they are more than likely wanting to know if they are at standard lie or if they have been bent upright or flat. If you bought them standard and have not had them bent then you can say the lie is standard.
