On Tuesday, September 20th, 2005, GuardHill Financial Corp., a leading luxury mortgage company catering to the specific needs of high net worth borrowers, proudly held its inaugural GuardHill Financial Charity Golf Classic at the LeBaron Hills Country Club in Lakeville, MA to benefit The Angel Fund and further ALS research.

As a non-profit, volunteer organization, The Angel Fund is committed to finding a cure for ALS and relies heavily on such donations and fund-raising.

Jonathan Kosow, Vice President, GuardHill Financial Corp. said ?Everyone had an excellent time for a great cause.? He continued by saying ??the event was a great success for ALS research. I even had phone calls asking me when and where the event was going to be held next year.?

The golf tournament started with registration at 7 AM, with teams from all over the New England area representing a variety of firms from law offices to beverage companies. The GuardHill Financial Charity Golf Classic continued with a delicious gourmet breakfast catered by the LeBaron Hills Country Club featuring omelets, eggs benedict, Belgium waffles, scrambled eggs, and assorted fruits and muffins. A prompt shotgun start at nine in the morning started an exciting day at the LeBaron Hills Country Club 18-hole golf course. Two hole-in-one opportunities were on the course sponsored by Lexus of Watertown and IRA Motor Group. At 2 PM there was a barbeque lunch also catered by the LeBaron Hills Country Club. After lunch, Scott Hazard introduced Paul DelVecchio, Executive Director of The Angel Fund who spoke about the Angel Fund?s commitment to the quality of life for those suffering from ALS and his personal experiences with the disease.

Immediately proceeding Paul DelVecchio?s remarks Scott Hazard and Jonathan Kosow announced the tournament awards. In first place was Tom Loucas?s team from Credit Swiss First Boston, in second was PJ Browne?s team from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and in third place was Elliot Topkins? team from Topkins & Bevans Attorneys at Law. The closest to the pin winner was Andy Lee from the AD Lee Company who won trip to Grotto Bay Bermuda. The longest drive was won by John Haydon from Bain Capital who won a threesome to Wollaston Golf Club with sponsoring member Elliott Topkins. All participants received a gift bag with a microfleece vest and Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.

The GuardHill Financial Charity Golf Classic was managed by Nickerson PR, Marketing & Events with the help of a committee of individuals who dedicated their time to the event. The committee included Ann Hadley from the Angel Fund, Mara Izzo, Greg Boyle of Credit Suisse Boston, Scott Hazard and Jonathon Kosow of GuardHill Financial Corp. and Lisa McGonagle of Nickerson PR, Marketing and Events.

The Angel Fund is a primarily volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig?s disease) investigations, and accomplishes its fight against ALS through fund-raising events and campaigns. By participating in the GuardHill Financial Charity Golf Classic, avid New England golfers were able to participate in the fight against Lou Gehrig?s disease. The Angel Fund acts as a conduit to the Cecil B. Day Laboratory for Neuromuscular Research at Massachusetts General Hospital for funds raised by associated events, and through public awareness initiatives. The Angel fund believes in the value of supporting people personally touched by the tragedy of ALS, who are determined to prevail against the disease.
