Question by Jessica D: Found a Titleist golf ball the name is in red and it was in the center of a 24″ diameter Eucalyptus tree?
I cut firewood for a living and most of it comes from golf courses because of the quality. I was splitting Eucalyptus (red gum) biscuits which were all at least 24 inches in diameter. I counted the rings but find the number hard to believe. How old is this ball, its in great shape and still inside a piece of the heartwood. I have mounted it and am curious. This brand is written in black now but, this ball has it in red ink.

The only problem with this is that there is nothing at all interesting about an old golf ball. I suggest finding something else to be interested in.

Maybe not even that old. Maybe late 70′s. Titleist used to print the name “Titleist” in red to indicate their 80 compression ball.

    Black wording/black number = 100 compression
    Black wording/red number = 90 compression
    Red wording/red number = 80 compression

Obviously, they don’t do that anymore.
