Tom Watson was runner up in the Open. He lost concentration at the very beginning of his final round and made a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes. His last putt of the 72 holes was the worst stoke he made the whole tournament as if he had a mental lapse. Fatigue had to be a factor as witnessed in the 4 hole playoff even though he denied it.
