Can someone recommend a couple “easy” yet upscale golf courses in Palm Springs?
Question by Sam H: Can someone recommend a couple “easy” yet upscale golf courses in Palm Springs?
Hello. My in-laws started golfing a year ago and they’re hooked, but they’re still only intermediate golfers who shoot well over a hundred. They’re visiting Palm Springs from Indiana so I want to give them that upscale Palm Springs golf experience but it seems like all the nicer courses are just way too difficult for golfers at their level. For example, I was considering Indian Wells Celebrity course and Arnie’s Classic Club, but both those clubs have slopes close to 140. Can anyone recommend a nice upscale golf course in Palm Springs with relatively wider fairways and flatter lies? Thanks!

Indio, 15mins from Palm Springs. 2 Wonderful courses highly recommended and yes lower slope/rating and incredibly scenic are: Terra Lago and Eagle Falls. Google and take a peek…you won’t be disappointed. In Palm Springs my favorite is The Westin Mission Hills another good choice for lower slope/rating and picture perfect.
Another thought is an overnight stay in San Diego (2.5hr drive) a round at Torrey Pines (Known for Buick Invitational and US Open 2009, LPGA Samsung World Championship 2009) The North course is the easier side. A slope/rating of 70.0/119 from Whites. It’s a long course 6326yds but flat and wide open. And the next day a tour of the city…Seaport Village, Balboa Park, or even a day at the beach in La Jolla or Coronado.
Enjoy!

I can say that I for one as a beginner would not want a course that was a “struggle”. I would rather have an enjoyable day, and leave not feeling like I’d been beaten up. I have never been to Palm Springs so I can’t help with a course, however I can encourage you to stick with your idea of a easier, yet upscale course.
