Question by doingitright44: can anyone recommend golf courses to play on the west coast or Nevada area?
I live in the bay area and play all over our area, the San Diego area, the central coast area, and in mesquite/vegas… played 5 courses in Maui in January this year, Kapalua Plantation after the pros left it, Makena north and south, and two Robin Nelson designs in the center of the island, Wente (a Norman design) right before the Nationwide tour plays it this week, Monarch Dunes in Nippomo (a great play, same mgt. company that runs bandon and those courses in Ore.) , Torrey South, LaCosta, Harding Park, Wolf Creek (Mesquite Nev. a true ‘must play’) Half Moon Bay Old Course, just to name a few…can you come up with some great courses to play that arent 500 dollars and grossly overrated (we all know a few of those right?)

    Bandon Dunes in Oregon.

Also in Oregon, Sun River has some great courses.

Chambers Bay in Tacoma, Washington. It is the site of 2011 US Open

Other choices are Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Ca., Pacific Grove and the Bayonet Black Course on the Monterey Peninsula, Lost Canyons Golf Club in the Simi Valley, and The Crossings at Carlsbad(On Golf Magazine’s Top 10 new golf courses)

Trump National in Palos Verdes, Best course I have ever played.

    Pebble Beach, obviously

    Bandon Dunes, oregon

    TPC Valencia is very nice

Glendora Country club, socal, is very nice and very private.

Arrowhead country club, socal, very nice, very private,

    Primm is always fun

    Also, TPC Canyons in vegas
    Bear’s Best in vegas
The winn golf course in vegas

California Country Club off the 60, socal

The riveria, if you can get in… Socal

These are all pretty pricey. The best is still Trump for the money, if you go during summer twilight its like $ 145, but you get free range balls, free cart, and a bunch of other stuff. And the course is fun, the sunset is beautiful, and the experience is worth every penny…

I’m with the guys who say Bandon Dunes. There are 3 courses and they are all fun. No carts just walking. Caddies optional. Cost is around $ 200 a round. It seemed high but worth every penny to me. I was there 3 years ago and want to go back again (I live in Arizona so it’s quite a drive).
