Are you required to tuck in your shirt if your playing in a golf tournament, private club or expensive course?
Question by tcmae: Are you required to tuck in your shirt if your playing in a golf tournament, private club or expensive course?
Do you have to tuck in your shirt if you are playing in a golf tournament? Also do you have to tuck it in if you are playing in a course like an expensive public or semi public course which has a dress code that requires a golf collared or mock shirt, and no denim jeans, shorts must be bermuda length, and soft spikes are required, are you also required to tuck in your shirt? Also do you have to tuck in your shirt if you are playing in a private golf country club that has a formal dress code? Do you have to tuck in your shirt period in golf? Also why is it recommend to tuck in your shirt in golf?
Can someone please just answer if you are required to tuck in your shirt in a golf tournament, because there are already alot of answers of tucking in your shirt in a country club, now I want to know in a golf tournament in any golf course, do you have to tuck it in. This question is also asks if you have to tuck it in golf tournaments also, not only country clubs.

well if your paying money to golf i think you should be able to dress as you like but if your visiting a course you want to go by their rules.be a good sport, going by the rules demonstrates good sportsmanship, even if it is just golf.golf was a gentleman’s game in the beginning, tucking in your shirt no cussing…on and on

In the club where I work, you do not have to have the shirt tucked in playing in a golf tournament, but upon entering our clubhouse all gentlemen must be in coats. We do have a few events per year that are casual. Most clubs will have a dress code policy up for display in the golf locker room
Every course may set their own requirements for attire, both on the course and in the clubhouse. In general, the more exclusive or expensive a place, the more stringent and strictly enforced their dress code will be. I would advise you to always call ahead before your first visit to a course to ensure you will be properly attired.
As for why it is recommended you tuck your shirt in, there are probably several reasons. The two most obvious: less material to interfere with your swing and it just looks classier.
at the C.C. I use to play at you had to tuck in your (polo or dress) shirt and no denim was aloud. The reason they make this a rule and recommend it is because it is a classy thing to do and golf is a classy sport. TIP: You want to fallow the rules about dress code at a C.C. because you want to make a good first impression on the people your playing with.
in all honesty it is just the gentlemanly thing to do. It is really as simple as that.
yeah, you are supposed to. out of sight clubhouse. untuck and enjoy.
