PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING, PLEASE HELP ME! 
Hi,
I decided to buy a TaylorMade R7 iron set, but I don’t know if I should go for the stiff graphite or the steel version.
I did try out graphite and steel shafts (not taylormade though) but I still can’t decide and I do NOT have a chance to try out the R7s.
I’m an 18-year old high-handicapper but long hitter… because I can really hit those balls far (on average 165 yards – 7 iron) but my handicap is high because I don’t play much on golf courses (98% driving range) and I’m not the most accurate player ever, but my accuracy isn’t that bad either. I just sometimes slice or hook, not that often though.
I’ve never had the chance to measure my swing speed/tempo, but I’d say it’s between normal and fast.
I don’t have any problems with the trajectory.
On the one hand, I really like the heavy and solid feel of steel shafts (I’m pretty strong, I don’t like those lightweight clubs) and I’d definitely prefer to have more accuracy than distance.
On the other hand, the guy on the driving range (he used to be a pro) told me to swich to graphite (I’ve been using really cheap steel irons for 5 years), but I don’t think it’s like he was watching my swing etc. I think it was more of a general opinion.
(But I’ve also read that low handicappers should use steel shafts).
I like the smaller amount of vibrations when hitting from grass (+divots), but I never have problems with my elbows using steel shafts.
What do you think I should choose?

Here is the short version.
If you are going to spend big bucks for clubs you can certainly buy them from someone who knows club fitting.
My simple answer would be steel irons,steel hybrids or fairway woods and a graphite driver.
Because you are young and long you probably would benefit from stiff shafts.
You are 18 and a high-handicapper , I recommand you the Graphite shafts, then steel when you are playing better. I’m 36 and had the same perplexity as you are. if you could trust me or my experience, i’d recommend you a good website named golfshopping18.com roughly(google it), I got some great clubs there , got myself a real good deal, superior quality, and the point is the price is unbelievable.
You dont have to be a low handicap golfer to be able to use steel shafts. You just have to have a fast swing (which you said you do). If you want a lighter steel shaft look into project X shafts, they are quite expensive ($32 per shaft) but are light weight and they are still very good. (i use 5.5 project x shafts on my irons).
So i think you should go with Steel shafts because you said you do have a fast swing and steel will give you more accuracy then graphite.
After all the verbiage you still cannot make up your mind, why are you asking us to solve your problem ? Try both shafts and then choose that which feels best to you. If you are big and strong , go with the steel. If you want more feel of the club head, go graphite.
