when I swing my irons on the course or on the driving range by ball goes straight but I’ve lost 20-25 yards per club. I’m lined up correctly and the ball goes straight but my divot is shaped and pointed anywhere from 30-45 degrees to the left of the direction the ball goes. Has anyone had this happen and if so, do you know how to correct it? I used to hit my irons very well but have somehow developed a bad habit in my swing.

Sounds like something that happened to me. I inadvertently started flattening out my swing plane. I still made the unconscious corrections with my hands in order to strike it well enough, but after I realized what happened I eventually regained my lost distance. I was coming too much around the ball, like a driver swing.
The key for me was to make sure I started my takeaway straight back from the ball, which let me be a little more vertical in my plane, and get down into the back of the ball.

I’ve noticed that myself. My problem was that I wasn’t making solid contact with the ball. I was changing my spine angle and not getting the ball flight I normally got. I just concentrated on staying down and through on my shots.

make sure that your hips are coming around at the right time of contact. keep your hands just a little also at contact.

Sounds like you’re coming over the top or casting the club.
