This is the best explanation I have heard thus far. People learn in different ways I cannot communicate well with people who are very athletic. They tend demonstrate the principles but are unable to articulate it. This a rare example of both proper demonstration and instruction.

I have always struggled with my lower body action. Since the downswing starts from the ground up, I rarely, if ever hear about what you should feel in your feet. When I think about my hips starting downswing, I sometimes feel I slide too much. If I don’t think about my hips, I end up using too much upper body, and hook it left. Should you feel the weight transfer to the left toe first? Outside of the left foot? Never been clear on this.

What happens first the arms dropping or the left hip towards target? Thanks

Hi Mark. I watched this video and I have a question about the ball flight. Can a steeper downswing create a higher ball flight. In my case, I think that i am to steep on my swing and since the beginning of this season i have a very high ball flight and I loose a lot of distance with my irons. Can this help me?
    Thanks

i try to do this but i just hit it fat. What do i do? please help!

Awesome awesome video, exactly what i needed to see. What would you say the action of the arms is in the start of the downswing? Do they move out to the front of the body passively, as a result of the hip rotation?

My lower back tends to get stiff after 30 shots or so, the i loose the flexibiliyt and my uper body starts overtaking my down swing, any tips that can relieve stress off the lower back?

I like you video which gave me confidence in my iron swing. For a 15 handicapper, my iron was the weakest part of my game. LOL. Now, I have higher GIR than before thanks to your tips. One question though, could you show how you position your hands at impact? Do you bow your wrist?

@cockywatchman1976 Great comment, often this drill can help with an over the top downswing.

  14. 4golfonline says:

@froggyboomsplat1 Try a drill where you hit iron shots with a massively open stance. This will give you the feeling of hitting against your left leg rather than beyond it.

@td1138 No problem, let me know if it helps.

Great tip! Describes me to a “tee” – a player who tends to top the ball or hits the ground first. I also have “weight transfer” issues, so this should help that, too. Thanks, Mark!

I try to do this, but I have my left knee colapse toward the target as well, which causes my hips to stop turning and my club to flip. How do I make this move while posting my left and keeping my hips turning?

A good video. I’ll work on this.

he man I have had countless lessons with a pro and i also played golf in high school. i just found it confusing when you said to move your hips forward. so my question is….what is the difference in what you are saying and “swaying” on your downswing. I thought swaying was always looked down upon in the golf swing and meant a lot of trouble

  21. BigPoke89 says:

Good advice, my teacher has me place my golfbag on the outside of my left hip and swing and try not to move the golf bag by swaying into my left side rather than turning through. Dropping the club into the slot also helps with the driver for a flatter plane.
    Cheers from Texas

This tip wont work for everyone. If you struggle wth over the top, you may will shank everything. You have to also drop/loop the club at the top to exaggerate coming from the inside.

  23. bshimo2 says:

Great videos. On the downswing it’s difficult to turn your lower body without “coming over the top” with the upper body. Also, in some of your other videos I missed a couple of words due to the squeek in the floor.

  24. onkai says:

thx so much for the videos!

cheers mark….i am just curious what model of mizuno clubs do you use?
