    Hello
I am a PGA Golf Management student. The best way to do it is to practice. Try making a very smooth swing. Don’t shorten it too much.

Don’t put too much power into it.

For me. I choked down on the club and do half swings.

Try the same smooth swing but a narrow stance.(don’t spread your feet apart to far) Practice on the range and notice how it knocks off yards! Have a little more weight on your left side of your body as well. GOOD LUCK

    You need to learn “feel”.

When you catch yourself asking ‘is the a half swing, or a 3/4 swing’, then you know you don;t have the feel yet. You cannot be taught feel, you just have to learn it for yourself through experience.

What I can say, is that you should always follow through completely in your swing, full, half, or 3/4. No matter how much power you take off the back swing, your follow through should always be complete.

If you have to ask a question as simple as this, you have to take golf lessons and learn the basic swings of the game. There are no drills when you neglect to learn the fundamentals. The simple golf swing is a pendulum swing. One goes back as far as he intends to go forward. The controlling factor is swing speed which you will learn from a competent instructor.

It would certainly help us to answer your queston if you would describe what club you are using for this shot. I have no problem hitting this shot with my 62 degree SW – I use a 3/4 or full swing at a slower pace. Shots in this range have to be assesed on an individual basis – is it all carry ? is there room to run the ball ? ( in which case I would use a GW or PW ) is it landing on an up or down slope ?
I would recommend trying to avoid this distance shot – most pros would rather have 80-100 yards.
