The picture shown, shows an extra philips head but the item sent only had the 2 ea. removal cleat tools and the handle. It appears the old stock has only the handle and the 2 ea. cleat removal tool. The item itself does exactly as described on the hard to remove spikes. It worked like a charm. The only complaint I have with this item is that the local WalMart is selling the same item for $10.99 and I paid almost $20.00 for this item from 3Balls. The shipping cost from 3Balls did me in. If this was an Amazon item, it would be free shipping as I would also buy cleats. This is one of the few times I should have looked locally for the item.

This is a easy to use, dedicated spike removal/installation tool. It comes with two different heads, one that is used to essentially RIP the spike out just in case the 2-hole fast twist spikes are stuck. The head that has 2 prongs can be used for removal and installation.

BEWARE…. when storing the heads inside the handle, BE SURE to insert the 2-prong head in first, follow-ed by the ripping head. If you insert the ripping head in first, the sharp teeth will catch on the inside and you will have a very VERY VERY hard time getting it back out. Trust me, I know… I out of curiosity tried it, and had to use a needle nose plier to take it back out.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION… as an alternate solution to buying and using this very dedicated spike removal took, you can use (or buy) a needle nose plier for half the price to do the same job. If you already have one, well, then you don’t need to buy anything at all. I made the mistake of making an impulse buy and didn’t want to waste the postage returning it, so I opted to keep it.

Since golf courses where I play have required soft spikes for several years now, I’ve had a difficult time changing them. Often I would have to resort to using pliers and in extreme cases I’d have to drill them out. What a pain!

This new spike tool works so well, I was able to change all of the spikes on two sets of shoes in no time without any extra tools! My partner saw how easy it was to use, so he used it to change out his spikes too. I highly recommend it!
