I purchased these shoes so that I could travel with just a carry on bag. They are great for this purpose, and for regular wear. They have enough padding and support for a work out in the gym on the cardio gear or for long walks (I’ve gone 3 to 4 miles with no problem), but need a little more cushion for long jogs or running. The reason they work so great for travel is that you can work out or walk all day in them, and they perform very well for adventures in or on the water. They dry quickly and don’t smell after. If you go on a cruise, all you need are a pair of dress shoes and these. They pack very easy and take up little room in your bag.

I ordered a 1/2 size bigger because that’s what everyone said is they ran small. I found that not to be true. I normally wear an 8.5 so I ordered a 9. They are too long. If people are complaining they are too narrow then I understand back. I ordered a D, but I’m sending back to get my right size but in an E.

This review is from: New Balance Men’s SM720 Water Shoe (Apparel)

I bought this shoes for a trip to boundary waters (north) I had them in the water all 3 days.
The size run big. I ordered my usual size wide and the shoes were huge.
I really liked an idea of water shoes and while this shoes have a lot of good qualities, negatives for me outweigh positives:
    Pros:
    Great traction on sole
Water drain holes on the side are great idea with mesh on the side and drain holes water drains fast

    Cons:
With mesh water drain out but all the sediment (send, dirt, leaches) stay in. The design of the tightening system still allows sediment to enter on the sides of the ankles
Mesh is rough from inside, and since this shoes are designed to be worn barefoot – this is a major flaw. I had blisters on 3 of the toes.
The back is flexible but hard – so if you need to walk a lot in these shoes the back will rub against the back of the foot creating big blisters
Last con but very important in my case – there is NO arch support.

Bottom line – great idea of the water shoe – keeps your feet water free. Also great traction. But can not be used for long walks
