Will Atheists stop the natives from saving the trees?
Question by Adia Azrael: Will Atheists stop the natives from saving the trees?
I heard a lot of Atheists that are againts superstition.
Well, I’m from Asia and some of the natives here believe that they should not cut down trees because the soul of their ancestors are in these trees. So, would Atheists stand againts them for trying to save the enviroment, or is it better for them to modernize?
Before you pointing out “How do you build stuff with no wood?”, I’m just gonna say it’s just a couple of big trees and certain type of trees.
Prayer and positive thinking have been known to cure many people. It’s just like placebo.
You shouldn’t get into the jungle at night, there are spirits in them woods. Or maybe spirits is just old people language for tigers and elephants.
Anyways, in theory here that behind every superstition that we believe, there’s a damn good reason why we should follow. But, over time these reasons are forgotten by everyone.
So, will the Atheists stop the natives from saving the trees? ![]()
I’m just pointing out not all superstition are bad. That’s all.

That is a piece of writing worthy of O’Reilly and Limbaugh. A leap of logic as gymnastic as any I’ve seen.
Congratulations, you’ve won the “Desperate Spin Of The Week” award.
Atheists are all for saving the environment regardless what the reason is.
I’m sure you’re not a native. You’re probably in one of the big 3, right?
Some infidels believe that their ancestors souls are in animals. Are you going to kill those people and their animals like the Koran/Bible/Torah says?
I’m from British Columbia, Canada. We know about forestry, and replanting, and the concerns of our First Nations people. I don’t worship trees, but I can see the ecological damage that clear-cutting does, as can most of the industry here. It’s not that much of an issue.
So what, in your world atheists make up special rapid response units dedicated to rushing into other people’s countries to stop them doing things SPECIFICALLY beause if they do them it’s for religious reasons?
Get off the drugs. And trees are good whether they have souls or not (they don’t).
In the same way that things can unfortunate consequences can come out of good intentions, helpful consequences can result from superstitious intentions.
Being against superstitions doesn’t mean attacking every action that stems from the superstition. It means holding the superstition itself under a spotlight for examination.
And I’m not about to walk in the Asian Jungle at night, either, because I prefer to not be a tiger snack.
if thay want to cut down the tree cut down all the trees and thay will be joining there ancestors no more air to breath
i believe the biggest illegal logging operations with the cooperation of corrupt politicians are in Indonesia and Malaysia. they were not atheist countries last time i looked. and i don’t think too many ancestral spirits would like to live in palm oil plantations.
While the atheists might not be superstitious themselves, most of them respect the natives beliefs and history.
And those who do choose to ignore the superstitions and beliefs would not necessarily have to be atheists. There are plenty of Christians and other religious representatives out there ravaging the forests.
