Question by Danielle!: Why do people hate golf?
Why is there a reason to be ashamed when saying “I like to go golfing”? I’m 14 and in 8th grade and I play golf. I actually like the sport, it’s something me and my dad do together. I quit softball so my dad thought I should do another sport such as golf. I have been playing for 2 years now and I’m getting pretty good at it. My dad taught me the basics, then I took a group lesson, and now I have one-on-one lessons. I’m no Tiger Woods but my dad and teacher both say I have potential. Sometimes I hit a bad shot (we all do) but that’s just the game. So I ask you, what’s wrong with golf? Today in school in my gym class we started playing golf and I was thrilled because I know how to play the game and I’m pretty good. I’m a middle schooler on a varsity high school team. My gym teacher asked if anyone is on the high school team and my hand rose. He said “good then you can teach us” he joked. So later on I saw two of my friends and one whispered to the other “did you know Danielle (my name) is doing golf?!”. “What?!!!” the other shouted out. “Ew, your doing golf??” one girl said. “Yeah..” I replied. “why??” my friend said. “because I am the youngest and me and another girl are the top 2 out of 12 girls, so I’m pretty good” I said. “You know what comes to mind when you think golf?…. OLD! snobby old rich people!” a girl said. “Trust me, she ain’t rich” the other girl said. “Actually golf if becoming pretty popular..” I said. One girl whispered to the other girl something (that I didn’t hear) and they both started laughing. I was hearing a lot of talk in my gym class like “Why the h3ll are we learning golf” or “golf is sooo gay!!”. So back to my question, why is golf such a hated sport?

extremely boring to watch. no action gal. we need to see quarterbacks getting blown up on the blind side!!!!! POW!

probably because it doesn’t involve much movement so its not as exciting. also, its mostly old people that play it
Golf is either a sport that people hate or love. Golf isn’t for every person because it takes patience which incredibly a lot of people lack. People also think that golf is very uninteresting and a little boring. Me personally, I think golf is pretty boring when you watch it, but if your watching a particular person that your rooting for or are playing the game it can be some afternoon fun.
1. Personally, I’ve tried golf. And playing it is actually a ton of fun. But what people hate isn’t the idea of playing it, its the TV. And it is actually quite boring when you have no idea what par or hole in one means.
2. Also, its a quiet sport and lacks action. All the sports nowadays people watch are loaded with “violence” if you can call it that; ex: Football, basketball, boxing, hockey.
They all have bloody moments, but when did golf ever have blood? Some guy misses the golf ball and smacks another in the face?
3. Some people just hate old people. And when you add rich and snobby to it, its hated by them and soon their friends.. We don’t see old grandpa’s running up and down a football field or shooting hoops at the Staples Center. Young people in particular despise golf because they don’t see that it need much skill. Swing, hit, bounce. That’s not my opinion, but rather what I hear.
