Question by Mathias…Yes Sirr!: Why do people call us tall people “tall”? Do we call short people “short”…NO.?
Im 6’3″ guy and whenever i meet anyone they always go on about how tall i am, “gosh your tall” “isn’t he nice and tall”, “your so tall”, “how tall are you”, “Do you play basketball”. This happens every single time, now im wondering why complete strangers and people ive known for 5 minutes see the need or think its okay to make these kind of comments. I like my height but when people star up in ore at my tall frame, i feel like im some freak show or something.
I never see some 5’1″ guy being told, “gosh your short, “do you play miniture golf”, “your sooo short”. I just don’t understand why its forbidden to say that to a short guy but okay and normal to say the same to a tall guy? I know this has already been asked before, but the answer is usually “Because their jealous or they wish they could be tall.” So, I wanted to know from you personally, why do you call people like me tall. What’s the reason? Is it because you’re jealous? or are you just trying to be nice and start a conversation? When you say it do you see it as your giving the guy a compliment? Such as your handsome or telling a girl she’s beautiful?

Because most short people are sensitive about their height, where as most tall people are proud of theirs.
Hahahahahahahaha I feel ya, I’m 6’2″ and people do the same to me,, I guess it’s cuz we taller then average person and I’m guessing they just trying to start a convorsation

being tall is looked up as being a positive trait. Being short is not.
I dont think its jealousy, I think its because a tall man your size its impressive to people. Usually an average height its 5’5”, while as your height its above average. Im not saying its not normal, Im just saying its not common. I think people might me impressed and yes, maybe wish they were as tall as you are, but you should not see it as jealousy but more as a compliment and positive thing. Dont let your ego rise as high as your tallness because then people might be impressed with your height in a good way but disappointed with your negative attitude towards this situation making you look mean and not nice (unless your not a very peoples person, then that would be different). Otherwise embrace your tallness and make a good thing out of it, it seems people love it.

haha your funny! im 5’1 thank you very much and i get told im short it sounds like just about as much as you get told your tall. you just dont hear it because you arent short. as for people thinking it is nice, well it is usually especially coming from a girl. its somthing that most girls like so they are pointing it out.
Being tall is considered a good thing so they feel okay about commenting on something they see as a positive in you. Being short is considered a bad thing so they feel like it would be an insult to comment on someone’s shortness. Same goes for telling a girl she is “so skinny” (skinny is culturally valued) as opposed to telling anyone they are “so fat.”

Uh..yes they do! I hear em all the time.If this is ur only worry,you’ve got no complaints! You judging others as well by ur posting a gripe & calling others what u don’t want. Who cares? Everyone wants what everyone else has until they get it. Then they don’t want ti anymore.
We all derive from 1 another & go back to the same place as 1 another.We are all a certain look & don’t blame them. They had it done to them.That’s why they do it. Your not Special either. Thank all that’s good that it’s not being crippled they call you on. As I said,do you really have a complaint? My nephew is over 6ft tall & his muscles are just as big! Do u think his height is what they see?
