The award is called the “ATHLETE of the Decade”, not “PERSON of the Decade”.
Tom Brady has won only 3 Super Bowls with the Patriots. Tiger Woods has won many, many more majors.
Tiger Woods was the better athlete, that’s all there is to it. It doesn’t matter whether he had personal and family problems of not, this award has nothing to do with that. It’s the Athlete of the Decade award – Tiger was by far the best athlete of the decade.
Travis Henry’s my choice.
Tiger got picked for that before his scandals were exposed. His squeaky clean rep is gone now so i think Brady does deserve it now though.
Easy half the votes were returned before the story about Mr. Woods broke. However, Tiger did win a lot of tournaments and earn a bunch of money this past decade. Not saying I like it, but the AP does tend to pick the same dudes for awards over and over again, check the golfer of the year award.
I don’t consider golfers to be athletes. That’s like saying chess players are athletes. I agree that it is a skill, one at which Tiger is very adept, however, the most athletic chore in golf is walking to the tee. So, this “award” means nothing to me.
Tiger didn’t impregnate the women & leave them like Brady….. all Tiger did was bump & run
Well with all the other stuff pushed aside like women and stuff outside the sports. Both players are and have been great the past decade. I think the reason Tiger got it was because of how he just dominates his sport and there really isn’t or hasn’t been a guy in close second. Tom Brady isn’t exactly squeeky clean either, but I think that he is a great QB obviously and was fortunate to play on and lead great teams to the Super Bowl and win. With that being said football is a team sport and there are alot of factors that play into a team winning the Super Bowl and while I’m not a Brady hater, the Patriots won those Super Bowls for many other reasons then just Tom Brady. He also doesn’t stand out of his sport as much because of guys like Peyton Manning for instance, who is also a great QB and won a Super Bowl. I don’t necessarily agree with the award, but if you look at a guy who dominated his sport, noone has more then Tiger. For similar reasons, I wouldn’t be suprised when they vote Jimmie Johnson (nascar driver) for the next award given 10 years from now. I don’t like him but he’s dominating the sport and doing things noone has ever done in history.
