golf is all about putting. I hit 15 greens, putt shit. Bad score. Another day hit 9 greens and putt well, as a reult a good score that makes you feel good about the round.

Yang beat Tiger by 9 shots over the final 36. Yang didn’t putt good either in the final round. YE putting stroke is terrible, he looks up in the middle of the stroke. Give him credit, he made a great putt on 13, he missed everything else, and a horrible 3 putt on 17. He just out played Tiger….His ball striking won this event.

They’ve played in the same tournaments 5 times now; Tiger has bettered Yang 3 out of 5, including the BMW Championship where he dismantled Yang by 32 shots. Tiger finished -19, Yang +13. Yang played very steady and he deserved that PGA major, however, let him win consistently before you measure how good he really is. In the FedEx playoffs Tiger has been whipping him.

Now we are left with a guy saying “I’d have won it if I hadn’t putted lousily”. True, perhaps, but it still puts too much weight on “someone losing it” and not enough on “someone executing when it matters”.

Thanks for the post. It’s a shame in a way that we only get to hear one side of it – I’d like to have heard Yang’s perspective on a round where quite honestly he never looked remotely in any discomfort; never looked cowed or overawed, never let the galleries get to him, and executed flawlessly as if he was in a monthly medal with a club colleague rather than bucking the biggest imaginable odds in a sports event.

you obviously have never played golf then. 100m is impressive but it just doesnt require the same skill and mental mindset as golf

i agree that it has to be one of the best moments but he is still not the complete sportsman that tiger woods is
